Project REAL has been busy within our courts this spring, giving thousands of students the opportunity to tour the local courts! Last Monday, March 16th, students from Harley Harmon Elementary School in Las Vegas were welcomed to the District Court and were able to learn interesting facts about our courts!
We have also had students from other schools in the Las Vegas valley receive the opportunity to meet our local Judges, and learn from their expertise in the court system. A student from Givens Elementary School expressed their gratitude in a thank you note to Judge Weise, “What is your favorite part of your job? I would think it is knowing that you are doing something good for your state.”
Along with working alongside the wonderful Judges and staff at the Regional Justice Center- the Nevada District Courts, we have also been given the great opportunity to tour the Federal Courthouse. Judge George has made a tremendous impact on students in Clark County, “Hi Judge George, I heard that the court was named after you. To me that is not awesome… It’s amazing!”- from a thank you letter written by a student from Givens Elementary School.
Not only are we reaching students in Southern Nevada, but we have met with Judges in Reno and other parts of Northern Nevada in preparation to expand our court tour program to not only students in Clark County, but to students throughout the state.
We greatly appreciate the support we receive through our community partners.
Project REAL educates K-12 students about the principles of democracy, law and the responsibilities of citizenship.
Bringing law and civic education back to Nevada’s classrooms, we offer a variety of programs. Find out more on our program pages.
All programs are provided to schools at no cost.
