In Clark and Washoe Counties, 5th – 12th grade students spend a morning in the U.S. District Court and the state court to gain first-hand knowledge of both Federal and Nevada civil and criminal judicial systems. The students view actual trials and court procedures from jury selection to sentencing.
To prepare students for the court experience, teachers are given study guides explaining the processes and the terminology common to the court system. Judges and other personnel spend time answering questions in their courtrooms.
Please visit the Applications page for more information and to reserve Your Day in Court.
Project REAL educates K-12 students about the principles of democracy, law and the responsibilities of citizenship.
Bringing law and civic education back to Nevada’s classrooms, we offer a variety of programs. Find out more on our program pages.
All programs are provided to schools at no cost.
